Cathy Sherman Bittrick

More than 50 years ago, 13-year-old Cathy Sherman Bittrick entered Crossroads for Youth (then Camp Oakland Youth Programs), seeking relief from a troubled, abusive home. Just like our children today, Cathy needed a structured, supportive environment, free from anger and pain, to help her overcome obstacles and reach her true potential. At Crossroads for Youth, she found all this.and much more.

As recounted in her book, Something Beautiful Remains, A Mother's Story of Forgiveness and Healing , Cathy spent her entire adolescence as a resident at Crossroads for Youth. It was in this unique environment that she found the strength to deal with her anger, develop positive relationships, pursue dreams and achieve success. Because of Crossroads for Youth, Cathy excelled in school graduated with honors and went on to college. Her personal and professional accomplishments speak to the effectiveness of Crossroads for Youth programs.

Today, Cathy is Broker-Owner of a 25-person real estate company in Grand Rapids, Mich., and a member of the Crossroads for Youth board of directors. She is a wife, mother and grandmother. Cathy's journey is proof that children can and do recover from difficult life circumstances, and that caring for our children is the best investment we ever make.
